The Language of Abstraction - Thursdays

Are you ready for an artistic adventure?  This exploratory class focuses on non-representational art making.  We’ll discover how investigating color, mark making, pattern, design, and artistic freedom can unleash a whole new artist in you!

• In part 1 of this class we will play.  What can you do with paint, pan and liquid watercolor, acrylic inks, metallic pens, collage materials, black lines, shapes, and more?  What kinds of marks can you make with anything but a paintbrush?

• In part 2 of the class we turn to expression:  how can you use color to express joy?  What kind of line conveys confusion?  How can we communicate ideas, memories, and feelings without pictures?  That may sound intimidating, but together we’ll dive into a series of activities and explorations to create an abstract, visual language that is unique to each of you.  

• This class is great for all - the artistically curious, seasoned artmakers, and everyone in between!
