Studio Art - Wednesdays

GRADES 3-5

Our goal in this class is developing as an artist by learning to think and work as an artist, rather than just following a set of steps to produce the same pictures as the rest of the room. You are an artist, this space is your studio, and in it we will explore the question: what do artists do?

In this class, there's a balance of instruction and student-led studio time to learn about the tools, materials, and how to use them. The best learning happens as we grapple with materials and ideas!  We're not all going to make the same thing…I'm going to show you the techniques, give you time to practice and experiment, and then you have studio time to use your new knowledge and skills to create something unique and amazing! 

Mediums to discover this class include: drawing (a variety of techniques and materials), cardboard construction, painting, and printmaking.
